Mikes active duty tour began in 1967 and extended through 1971.Following recruit training and basic Bakers School at MCRD San Diego and ITR at Camp Pendleton he served 17 months in Viet Nam with FLSU-1, FLSG-A, FLSG-B and Ration Supply at Camp Books, RVN in support of Operations throughout Northern I Corps.

On return from Viet Nam Mike was assigned to MACS-1, MAGG-38, 3dMAW ,FMFPAC, MCAS Yuma Arizona as a Baker and Night Cook for the remainder of his tour. He was honorably discharged in December 1971.

Following his discharge Mike was employed in Law Enforcement in Indiana until his retirement in 1996.

Mike and his wife Shirlie who chose East Point Kentucky as their retirement home, have three children, 7 Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild.

Mike is a Life Member of the US Marine Corps Food Service Association and was elected to the Board of Directors on September 6, 2007 to serve for a four year term and currently serves as Secretary.
